About Ocean Charter Of Values
Ocean Charter Of Values is the musical project of Nova Scotian songwriter Nicholas Laugher.
A sound best described as sparkly, mournful indie rock, Laugher’s songwriting weaves together themes of impending cataclysms, nostalgic Super Nintendo RPGs, and the ongoing existential trek that is wading through one’s own emotions.
The project originally debuted on a split-cassette release with ambient artist Lung Cycles on New York indie label Lily Tapes & Discs in 2015, with songs written in between touring stints with psych-rock outfit Year Of Glad, and folk singer-songwriter David R. Elliott. Following this, Laugher has steadily built a rich, expansive, and multi-faceted discography with Ocean Charter Of Values.
From early, more lo-fi and ambient-leaning releases like 2016's No One Who Was Good Is Good Anymore and 2017's Hack The Planet to more recent full-band efforts like 2024’s I Dreamt You Caught A Long Wind Home and 2026's Auburn EP, the project is constantly evolving.
Ocean Charter Of Values is preparing to release their self-titled third full-length album in Spring 2027.
